The Westside Podcast - The Sanctity of Life

12/2/2020

There are four major issues facing the church today. Two of them are owned by the political left. And two of them are typically owned by political right.
The sanctity of life. The sanctity of marriage. Justice for the poor. And racial justice.
As Christ followers, we are called to own all of them. It is not about partisanship or any political agenda. It is about following Jesus and allowing him to inform the way we respond to the world we are in today.
Pastor Randy Frazee joins me today as we address the issue of the sanctity of life. What does the scripture have to say? How do we respond and honor the heart of the Savior?

The Westside Podcast - Critical Theory

11/18/2020

OK, Friends...fair warning! We are headed into some bumpy territory over the next few weeks. We will be addressing a number of challenging topics that you are facing in the real world every day. And our goal is simply to investigate and align our lives to what Jesus says in the Gospels as we navigate the culture in this season of life.

We're tackling a topic today called “Critical Theory.” If you’re not familiar with the term, chances are you are familiar with its fruit. According to Britannica.com, Critical Theory is a “Marxist-inspired movement in social and political philosophy” that’s been quietly influencing the study of history, law, literature and social sciences since the 70s. What we’re seeing and experiencing in our world today is what that movement has produced.

Pastor Randy Frazee joins me in the studio today as we begin our series, “What does Jesus have to say?”

The Westside Podcast

I am hosting and contributing to a new podcast with Randy Frazee to help Christ Followers navigate the real-life tensions we all face and honor Jesus on the journey. It is to give a loving Christ-like perspective on living in this world.

You’ve heard their music and probably even sang many of their songs. So why are some people saying we shouldn’t play or sing music from Bethel, Hillsong or Elevation? Randy joins me today to look at the issues under a biblical lens.

Spiritual Maturity

Spiritual Maturity is oneness with God.

It is unity with the Father through the Son by His Spirit.

It is not your age, not your biblical knowledge and theological understanding, not your sin management, not your accomplishments.

It is your growing oneness and intimacy with God every day in every moment receiving the fullness of life that He desires for you.

A Song of Peace

Baptism Song

Take me down to the river and I’ll sing
Take me down to the river and I’ll sing
Take me down to the river and I’ll sing
Of what He’s done for me.

Take me down to the ocean and I’ll swim
Take me down to the ocean and I’ll swim
Take me down to the ocean and I’ll swim
Beneath His waves of grace

He made me clean before I ever reached the shore
He made me complete and left me wanting nothing more
He gave me joy that’s overflowing in this song of what He’s done for me

Thank you for holding on
When I had walked away
Thank you for being near when
My faithless heart would stray

Thank you for nail pierced hands
You gave world to save
Thank you for power so great
You overcame the grave

Thank you for tear filled eyes
The blood of heaven shed
For arms left open wide
For victory over death

Thank you for reaching out
When I was lost and blind
Thank you for love so great
You made the sacrifice

Give You Praise - A New Song for Worship

6/30/2020

This song was inspired by two enormously courageous people. Eric Goodman and Kristin Hay. Eric was afflicted with Covid-19 early on in the quarantine and fought hard as his family fearfully watched. His trust in God was so evident as he walked through the season and his health returned.

Kristin lost her husband after her year-long marriage. With a 1 year old son she continues to exhibit strength in a situation that would have crushed most of us. Kristin bravely shows us what it is to trust God in the storm.

This is a song born of people who are in a hard season and still find joy and the peace that passes understanding. Please share with anyone who needs this message today.
